Visiting Seven of the 13 Orginial Colonies...

Welcome to Boston!

When someone says east coast where do you geography think of? It is my belief that is mostly assumed of the New York region. Now this could upset some New Englanders, but after my visit in New England they seem upset about everything, unless their team wins.

My uncle suggested that New Englanders are upset, because they have “Puritan Roots”, and may have guilt associated with their past religious persecutions, I just think it gets so cold it freezes their happy pants. While on the other hand Pennsylvania, had a openness, and acceptance. This is believe to be set on the founder William Penn, a Quaker, and according to my tour guide of the area, painted the Quakers as righteous hippies, with William Penn, having the financial backing, by dad an Admiral for the Kings Navy. (If you have the time look up the Penn Story cool capitalist hippy.

But enough of that!

During my 3 week adventure of the 13 Original Colonies I visited 7 of them. Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Maryland and of course Pennsylvania. Can you name the remaining 6? I could not either so I looked them up for you on a google search. They are Virginia, apparently the first founded in 1607, with New Hampshire, Rhode Island, North Carolina, South Carolina, and to complete the 13 Georgia founded in 1732. How about that?

Quick call someone and put them on the spot, but first ask them “Hey, have any weed?” Then they will say “What?”

You say “Just kidding, by the way I have a game piece here that will earn us $1,000,000 if we get this question right. What are the 13 original colonies?”

We are going to break down each stop with a little fun and maybe some history, depending on my memory. Our first stop in our seven to six day journey is going to be Boston and Connecticut. I have chosen to combined the stops, because in Connecticut, I did stop for Gas on the way to Boston and on the way back. I am sure Connecticut has much more to offer except salty treats and petroleum products, but during this trip and the budget restrictions, and plus I did not know anyone in Connecticut I chose to drive thru.

Here we can look at some fabulous photos of interest points of Boston.

This is Jared and his Great, Great or Great Great Great Aunt Mary Dyer. The nice folks in Boston decided she needed some hanging, because of some different views on how God likes to party. But as you can see she has been immortalized for her religious freedom and all is ok now. Jared is still carry on her traditions, of free thinking and independent thought by being a Yankee fan in Bean Town. Strong Family Character!

Careful Jared, Massachusetts is not a State it is a commonwealth, and they might one day soon start hanging the new witches of our time "Yankee fans!"

This is just not a photo of a man sitting on a tour trolly, oh no! Take a close look at that North Terminal Garage Building at 169 Prince Street.

Yep, It is the Brink's Building. Where on January 17th, 1950, The bank noticed the deposits were missing.

Story goes, they were not sure if the check they deposited earlier was endorsed properly, and another dude accidental deposited his lucky $5 dollar bill. So correct the mistake they took all of the deposits for the day, with the intentions to return the rest of the money, once their errors were corrected.

Great sign.

Every City should have one!

Now, what historical visit would be complete without seeing a television Icon. Like true coinsure of culture, we went to Cheers!

This was the Quote "Real One" We also attended the fake one in Faneuil Hall. Both served Samuel Adams. Good Beer.

While inside, no one knew our name, but by the time we left they rang a bell, and knew we were from San Diego.

It was nice.

BeanTown Pub!
These people did not want to know anyones name. As a matter of fact it was the first time in history I saw Ladies (Women) being turned away from a bar. Crazy. Now I am no super door man, but "Oh, Yes, its ladies night and I feelin' right" WoW

But in the defense of the establishment, having a bar across from a grave yard may effect your psych just a little. Oh yea, across the street is the eternal homes for Samuel Adams and Paul Revere.

Now what trip to Boston would be complete without a sporting event? I had the privilege to attend a Boston College Game where they beat Duke. A Celtics game, where they unfortunately lost to the Jazz.

Finally a Bar to see the Jets beat the Patriots.
Good for me because if I was at Gillette Stadium when this happened, I probably would still be in a hospital today.

Boston has much passion for its sport teams.
And so far there is no better place in the world to take in a game.

Dudley House at Harvard University.
Cambridge Square was great! As a matter of fact I believe I had the best Mexican food in my life. Go figure. Anyway, this nice lady open the door when I was trying to look collegiate. But that was ok, the cool part was when the security guard, who's photo I took went totally insane. She must of still been upset about the Celtics the night before.

It was these little encounters that made me feel that maybe there is something in the water that makes people angry in Boston.

The Freedom Trail. It is where the Revolution began and our country was born.

I must say Thank you Boston for a wonderful time. If you ever have the opportunity to go, GO!

Thank you Brian for your home and tour guide.

Walter
